ProSolve Reflects On the Spring Budget 2024...

Published date: 07 March 2024

After yesterday's budget, we are starting to feel even more positive about what the future holds for the construction industry.

“The construction industry has given a mooted response to Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s Spring Budget, which provided scant new money or reform relating to the industry.” Source: Construction News

Whilst we agree with ‘The Construction News’ more needs to be done to support the construction industry, we are looking to take a slightly positive look at the budget. ProSolve are somewhat encouraged by the chancellor's commitment to building new homes and investing in infrastructure projects. In which the UK will see the long term benefit from in the following years but we absolutely appreciate that more needs to be done to fully support our beleaguered sector.

Robbie Blackhurst, founder of Black Capital Group and a former framework manager at Kier - [This was] a pretty average budget for the built environment sector [although] the announcement that inflation is to fall below 2 per cent within months is positive news.”

We absolutely agree with Robbie and are encouraged by the Government’s announcement that inflation is to fall below 2 percent. We hope this will have a positive effect on many business in the construction industry and looking forward to seeing how this plays out over the coming months.

Although more could have been done after a few tough years in our sector, it genuinely feels as though there is (some) light at the end of the tunnel for the construction industry...
